Certified assistance animals are permitted in all areas. WAMA is a dog friendly destination, and we love welcoming well-behaved pups and their people.  We ask that dogs stay out of the covenanted woodlands and all buildings, remain on a lead, and that owners pick up after them. Dogs can join you as you wander through the wetlands and endemic gardens, and they are welcome to relax with you in the undercover outdoor café seating. When you arrive, simply check in and pay at the front desk and our team will guide you through the side gate with your dog. Aggressive or unsafe dog behaviour is not permitted so we can keep WAMA a safe and happy place for everyone.

Our site, including our grounds, is sans steps and accessible via a ramp. Navigating some terrain outdoors is required, but the paths are flat with compacted gravel. Inside, the gallery, deck, bathrooms and education/events spaces are accessible. We also have a hearing loop in the gallery.

Environmental art addresses social and political issues relating to the natural world. WAMA takes a broad perspective on the genre, embracing artist’s work that reflect the cultural, metaphysical, experiential and nonhuman aspects of the environment. Imagine interdisciplinary approaches, nuanced perspectives and a spirit of inquiry or, even better, come and experience it for yourself.

Please see a team member – they are first aid and CPR trained. We also have a defibrillator on site.

Our site is smoke-free.

We ask visitors to exercise common sense, just like you would in any natural environment or public space: give native animals a wide berth, move mindfully through the spaces, wear appropriate footwear and sun protection, stay hydrated, etc. etc.

We have lockers available for visitor use. Any items larger than a piece of A3 paper must be checked, including bags, umbrellas, luggage and so forth. From time to time, a member of our staff may direct you to store other belongings, too, at their discretion.

We are lucky enough to be located in one of Victoria’s most beautiful regions – the Gariwerd/Grampians National Park. Surrounded by native gardens, wetlands and bushland, WAMA will grow as a vibrant cultural precinct – a place to learn, create, and reflect. Through exhibitions, workshops, and community programs, WAMA will inspire visitors to see nature with fresh eyes and to value its place in our lives.
