Dolores Skowronski - Malloni
04 October 2026 — 04 October 2026
As part of Garden Sanctuary: Visions of Australian Flora, WAMA warmly invites guests to attend an artist talk with Dolores Skowronski-Malloni on Sunday the 4th of October at 12pm. During this presentation, Dolores will discuss the creation of the Endemic Grevillea Collection, a series of 13 grevilleas expertly illustrated in watercolour pencil and realised with support from the Madeleine Taylor Grants Programme through the Botanical Art Society of Australia.
Dolores will reflect on the role of WAMA's Endemic Botanic Garden and local plant enthusiasts in supporting the project, as well as the donation of the collection to the WAMA Foundation. Through the artist's insights, audiences will gain an understanding of her creative practice over many years, which illuminates the displays of the native endemic collection, Australian native flora, and the terrestrial orchid collection, all on show as part of the current exhibition at WAMA.
Born in Buenos Aires, Dolores has practised botanical art since 1993. She was awarded a Silver Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society in London in 2005 and received the WAMA Art Prize 2025 Award of Excellence.
The production and presentation of Dolores Skowronski-Malloni’s artwork in this exhibition has been facilitated by the Madeleine Taylor Grants Programme of the Botanical Art Society of Australia, the peak national body supporting botanical artists and promoting the genre to the wider community. Dolores’s artwork perfectly encapsulates one of BASA’s aims, to promote and protect Australia’s extraordinarily rich diversity of plant life.
