The WAMA Foundation exists on a 16-hectare site that encompasses the Grampians/Gariwerd Endemic Botanic Garden, the Jallukar Native Grasslands, ephemeral wetlands, and outdoor artworks.
Many are rare, endangered, or critically endangered, meaning that this space serves a greater purpose than just being beautiful to look at: it’s also preserving the region’s biodiversity and natural assets.
Wander through at your own pace on a self-guided tour and experience these oft-remotely located plants in one place – something you won’t get anywhere else – and keep your eyes peeled for outdoor artworks as you go.
Join us for a complimentary tour of the precinct – gallery and gardens by arrangement. Feel free to ask at the front desk if tours are running during your visit.
Take the opportunity to ask questions and make conversation about the current exhibition, our on-site works Spring and Geode Tree and our Endemic Botanic Garden.

WAMA is located in Halls Gap/Budja Budja, Victoria. Our precinct is nestled at the foothills of the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park.
Driving from Melbourne, WAMA is about 3 hours via the National/Western Highway (M8) West toward Ballarat.
Driving from Adelaide, WAMA is about 5 and a half hours via the National Highway (M1/A1) to the Western Highway (A8) through Bordertown and Horsham before turning off onto Halls Gap Road.
Enjoy the scenic drive through classic grain and grazing country before the mountains rise suddenly ahead. It’s a good idea to stop for fuel or food in Ballarat or Horsham, the last major towns before Halls Gap.
