Join WAMA Foundation on Sunday the 6th September for an outdoor painting workshop led by renowned Victorian landscape artist Mark Dober. Set within the rich surrounds of WAMA’s grounds and gardens, this hands-on session will explore the fundamentals of plein air painting including observation, colour, and composition in direct response to the natural landscape. Perfect for those looking to build confidence in painting outdoors, the workshop also offers an opportunity to explore fresh techniques, mediums and creative processes.

This small group workshop offers personal guidance in a relaxed and creative setting, with quality materials supplied. Participants will also enjoy complimentary access to WAMA’s exhibition Garden Sanctuary: Visions of Australian Flora, featuring new large-scale works by Mark Dober, as well as entry to the botanic gardens and free tea and coffee.

Workshop to take place at WAMA Foundation on Sunday the 6th September from 10am – 1pm. Participants to meet in WAMA’s MPR room, 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshop. Biographies

Mark Dober

Mark Dober is an established artist. He makes paintings and drawings in the landscape, mostly in the surrounds of Castlemaine in central Victoria where he lives. The artist’s work is a response to ‘being there’.

Mark’s work ranges across size and media. His wall-sized works on paper, using watercolour and gouache and pinned to the walls, are shown at regional and public galleries (much of this work has been made at residencies).

The artist’s work is regularly shown in prestigious national contemporary art prizes.

Mark has a PhD in Painting from Monash University. He is a member of the Australian Watercolour Institute.
